Fall Decorating Three Ways…

Using three main (reusable) elements!

Seasonal decorating can be challenging AND expensive, but it doesn’t have to be! I am here to show you three ways to incorporate the same three elements throughout your home. The best part is, you can reuse them year after year…

Before I show you the end result, let’s talk about those three main elements! Pumpkins, greenery, and seasonal berries.

Element One is faux pumpkins. I bought them from our local Walmart a couple years ago for around a $1 each. Even though I went with less traditional colors last year, I was still able incorporate them into my décor this year. If you’re anything like me though, you’ll want to switch things up next year. GOOD NEWS is, all it takes is a little chalk paint to completely transform them!

Element Two is faux greenery. What I love about greenery is that it can be used all year long! I like eucalyptus best. Its shape and color transitions through out the season well, in my opinion. Another great thing about greenery is you can mix and match and get away with it!

Element Three for me is a seasonal berry. Mine are orange, which being a neutral-loving gal at heart is really surprising! I never thought I’d like orange, but I have been loving it this fall. The great thing about berry picks like this, they are fairly inexpensive and easy to store oh and these ones aren’t messy! I found these in the clearance isle of a craft store last winter. If you change your mind on style next year it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but don’t forget these also are paintable! (What isn’t paintable anyway?)

You definitely don’t have to pick the same three elements I chose. Just keep an eye out when you shop for something you like. The key is finding small elements that you can weave into your style throughout your home. This will help your décor look intentional and give a nice flow from one room to the next.

Ready for some inspo?!

See if you can spot the three elements in each photo.

Here’s my traditional, yet subtle, Halloween styled mantel. The plant on the left side of the mantel is real. See! You can mix real + faux. You can also find that cute bat sign in our shop!

For a buffet vignette, I added some spook with webbing, spiders and skulls. (I already had each of those items for decorating our car for trunk each year.)

Lastly for some tablescape action, I simply used the three elements + real pumpkins from my front porch.

How did I make odd sized pumpkins work? Just a little magic with vintage books and wood spools for height! Tip: When decorating, don’t forget to look around your house, you’ll be surprised what you already have!

This table display is one of my favorites! For one because it mixes new + old AND real + faux, but also because it would look great on a buffet or mantel! So many possibilities. Plus, it can transition to Thanksgiving…you know the next holiday! If your real pumpkins make it that long then you totally get your monies worth. For Thanksgiving, I might switch out the eucalyptus for pampas grass for more of a end of fall vibe, but that would be about it!

Anyway, I hope you can see you don’t have to start over every year! Stick to three main elements that you can reuse and have fun getting creative year after year!

Happy Seasonal Styling,

Megan
