Interior Bathroom Door Sign DIY

An under $20 and 20 minutes DIY.

We have two doors like this in this hallway- one door goes to the guest bath and the other to our bedroom. Guests never know which one to open when making their way the bathroom, so I decided to remedy this with a sign that I found on Amazon.

I wanted to stick with the vintage vibe we have going in our home so searched for a bathroom sign that had a vintage look to it. I originally wanted it to say “powder room” because that’s what my mom has always called the guest bathroom (1/2 bath) growing up. What did your family call it?

I couldn’t find one that I liked so I ended up ordering the “rest room” one. I was looking for an oil-rubbed bronze option and this was my favorite of the options out there.

This was such a quick project, I ended up just recording it and making a short TikTok video explaining how I did it. Click HERE to watch the video.

To install, all I needed was measuring tape and a drill to pre-drill the holes. (A ladder also would’ve been handy since I was working above my shoulders.) You wouldn’t have to use a drill; you could just use a screwdriver, but a drill makes it a little easier.

First, I decided where I wanted the plaque to be and then measured to center it on the door. (Honestly, I prefer to eyeball everything but my husband is a stickler for measuring so I measured.) I thought the middle rail of the door was too low so I hung it on the second on instead.

Once I made my marks, I pre-drilled holes for the screws. I then screwed one side in and left it a little loose until the other screw was in. I did this just to be sure everything was straight and then tightened both screws.

That’s it! Super quick and easy but added a little extra character while also being functional! No more confused guests.

As always, leave your questions and comments below! I love hearing from you. Until then…

Happy DIYing,

Megan
